Standard definitions for the benchmarking of availability and utilization of equipment

An effective standard has been created for the surface mining industry that will help in comparing equipment availabilities, operating parameters, and utilization. Standard definitions were reported at the Annual General Meeting of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy, and Petroleum.

The results of the research project intended to enable comparison of equipment performance across the mining industry can be found in the report titled "Standardization of Definitions for Benchmarking" by Zoltan W. Lukacs.
